A few words about Rhodes...

I decided to give you some informations about the island of Rhodes... where i spend most of my time abroad.

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands and the 4 th of all the Greek islands. (after Crete, Evia and Lesbos).

It also is the island the closest to Turkey, which means that you can easily travel there. (There are ferries going frequently to Marmaris). But there are also a bunch of other gorgeous small islands you can visit by boat like Simi, Chalki...

The island of Rhodes is not very big, you can travel by car from the North to the South in 2-3 hours. You can rent a car, there are plenty of agencies, the only problem is that during the high season it might be difficult to find something available, so you should consider doing it over internet or on the spot but a few days earlier.

They have a good transportation system, buses that go to almost every part of the island but what you should consider is that there are some villages where the buses stop only a few times a day!

One other option to travel around the island would be the taxi. It is pretty cheap, the traffic there is perfect, except some parts where they might have road maintenance.

Once you decided what would be your travelling option, you have so many things to do as the island is amazing and has so many wonderful spots. I'll write more about each one of these places when i go back to Rhodes this year and give you live updates.

One of my favorite beaches are: Anthony Quinn Bay, a wild bay, with stones and crystal clear water, amazing "underwater landscape", Afantou Beach, Tsampika Beach, Lindos Beaches, i recommend these only if you can deal with great heat. Lindos is one of the hottest places in the island. Yet, everywhere in Rhodes it gets very hot in June-July so be aware!

My favourite beach in Rhodes is Prasonissi. It is located in the south of the island, connecting the island to the southern part of it, where you can see the light house. In fact, this place is called the "island of Prasonissi". "Nisi" is the greek translation of "island" . In winter, the sea separates the island from Prasonissi and the lighthouse. But during summer, the sea withdraws and forms a lovely beach with the sea on both sides.

In July and August, Prasonissi becomes the paradise of surfers because of the strong winds. It is truly an amazing place. At your left you have the Mediterranean Sea and at your right the Aegean Sea. I totally recommend it. I love going there and i try to do it as much as i can. I work 1h30 hour drive from there so it becomes the perfect destination to relax. You can find 2 restaurants there and a villa with studios for rent.
